Response to COVID-19 from five of the major grant-awarding bodies

In response to Covid-19, several major grants funders are either pausing new grant applications or re-directing funds. If you have a current grant, have submitted an application, or are considering submitting an application, you are advised to check their web sites or get in touch with them.

Here is a summary of the response to the crisis of five of the largest grant funders known to AJD Regeneration clients.

Lottery Heritage Fund

All new grant applications or existing assessments are paused. Commitments to projects that have not yet started will be honoured, but on a slower timetable.

For existing grant holders and others in the heritage sector, a £50million emergency fund has been made available.

Lottery Community Fund

The online application portal is not yet closed, but all funding decisions for the next six months (up to £300m of National Lottery funding) will be devoted to addressing these priorities:

  • Activities specifically geared to supporting communities through this crisis
  • Helping organisations overcome any liquidity issues caused by COVID-19.

For new applications, it could take up to 18 weeks for a decision, with a further two weeks to pay your grant if you’re successful.

They will respond flexibly to changing timescales and reporting.
